While I’ve been a huge fan of pinup and retro photography I’ve not had the chance to actually have a pinup shoot. I have always wanted to shoot with Lauren Horwood, so when the chance to shoot came about, I jumped at it. We set the date and I am so happy with the results. I can’t wait to book in for another shoot with here again soon. This post features some of my favourite shots.
For this shoot, we met at the Camellia Gardens in Caringbah, NSW – a place that I have always had a soft spot for. My parents had their wedding photographs taken there over 25 years ago so I was excited to shoot in the beautiful space. I knew that this dress would be perfect and it is one of my favourites to wear from City Chic. My beautiful hair piece was a custom design from my friend Danielle who’s brand Daisy Jean is one of my go-to for hair flowers.
I have fallen in love with this dress. Is it even possible to feel so attached to a piece of cloth?
This is my second Evelyn and the cut is different to my first. The bust fits smooth, the print is so crisp and fresh.
But what makes this dress so special was that it was the frock I wore on my Graduation (which I posted about recently here).
I’ve been playing around with different colours and I love the pop of red with the glorious g0ld print of the dress.

The weather here in Sydney, Australia has begun to cool down and it’s time to start layering. For me, this is a new way of styling.
For many years I’ve opted for oversized and shapeless garments that held no flattering qualities whatsoever. This year I am learning, taking little steps to showcase my body in ways that are vintage, retro and yet still practical.
I can simplify this down to adding soft, fine knits to my outfit and adding layers under tops to keep the chill at bay! I am living in this simply, yet ever so versatile bolero from plus-size retailer City Chic. It’s long sleeves and cropped style mean it works well over my full dresses, but it can easily be worn with a top or peplum over jeans or skirts.
A number of weeks ago, I was nervous as hell as Jacob and I parked the car. I was about to step into a session with Cherry Dollface and learn new tips and tricks.
But the girls at Catfight Collections had given me the best news ever: that I got to hang with the lady herself while she ate dinner and ask her a miriad of questions.
It was a dream come true, but what does one ask a Youtube and pinup sensation with 10 minutes? I thought long and hard about what I wanted to ask and she was a true doll, answering them all with her gorgeous attitude!
