Until yesterday, I had never been to the races.
With an upcoming birthday, I decided to spoil myself with a new dress and go out with the Aussie Curves ladies to celebrate racing fashion at the Hawkesbury Races Ladies Day.

This beautiful teal faux wrap dress is the Ava from Pin Up Girl Clothing. The fabric is a heavy shakira satin in such a heavenly shade (one I have simply never worn before) and I am so happy I was able to purchase and add it to my collection!

The Ava dress doesn’t suit someone with a big bust, so lucky for me it was the perfect fit in all the right places. I am wearing in a size 2XL which means it is not from the “plus” section of the website, but it is also available in plus-sizes which accommodate for bigger busts.

This style also comes in a beautiful array of shades, from jewel tones to soft feminine shades. I simply adore it.

I entered my look into the Fashions on the Field but I was certainly up against some beautiful ladies! So many women attempted the retro look, I guess my classic take on 50s glamour was no match for polka dots!

I teamed the beautiful Ava with a simple coral fascinator to contrast and at the last minute added some polkadot mesh from an existing head piece of mine (scissors and pin do wonders at 7am!). I was really happy with the result!

I had a wonderful time catching up with the rest of the ladies, but especially seeing Dani. We live so far apart so it’s hard to catch up. She was such a lovely host and I had a great time with the gals!

  1. I still have to take a double look at your photo’s, you are looking so different lol. Love that dress :)

  2. It’s a gorgeus dress, and I love your hairdo. You look great.

  3. Beautifully flattering dress – love the under bust tying, to flow gently and enhance all at the same time. Tres retro cute.
