Aussie Curves: Sparkle
“People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out,
but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.”
— Elisabeth Kubler-Ross (Swiss-American psychiatrist and author )
A few years ago I would never have been able to wear an outfit such as this. It wasn’t an issue of confidence, it was purely an issue of accessibility. Plus size clothing in sizes 14-32 has moved at warp speed in the past 2-3 years to allow me, as a curvy woman, to get my hands on a pair of leggings and a sequin tunic. This makes me feel so fabulous, so fashionable and so ‘normal’. No longer do I need to wear an overly floral dress to try and blend with my slender friends. Now, I can wear a pair of leggings and pretend to be an extra in a LMFAO film clip and I don’t have to worry if they will fit. Because they will. And I will look as amazing as I feel in them.
These are the last shots I had taken when playing dress ups with Danimezza. Originally set for my leggings post a few weeks ago (you can check it out here), we decided it was far to fabulous for leggings and I’ve been holding these pictures until now. This outfit makes me want to go out dancing, have a few drinks and just throw away my cares. After all, what’s the point in not being able to sparkle and shine?
