Last week I was invited to an event in the city that was all about celebrating plus-size curves. It was an odd feeling, because most of the events or Press Releases I receive are for standard sized clothing labels. So, when Target contacted me I jumped at the chance and took myself into The Establishment in Sydney.
We are told to love and nurture our body and yet everyday, we flip open a magazine or turn on the television and we are flooded with bodies that are made to be superior.
Slim models, perfect tans, white teeth and gorgeous hair fill my Instagram feeds. They flood my Pinterest boards. They continue post after post after FaceBook post.
Not when you are 5kg lighter.
Not when you get a faux tan.
Not when you get out of your trackies and into a frock.
Not when you straighten your hair.
Not when you wear lippie.
Not when you take a selfie.
And especially when you’re having a “good” day.
There is a new app called BeauCoo that allows us to all celebrate the body we are in right now. I’ve been using BeauCoo for a few weeks to test it out, and to put it simply, I am in love. Somehow, I think you will love it too….
Black & white.
My comfort zone…yet this skirt pushes me out of my everyday and into something beyond.
This is the final beautiful bandana piece that was sent to me by the ever-so-amazing Craig from Ruff n Ready.
I cannot recommend Craig enough for his excellent customer service, wonderful low prices and great range.
It is so nice to be able to buy from an Australian retailer, rather than having to reach out to the International sellers. I love that Craig features both standard and plus size pieces from Hell Bunny and with new stock coming in all the time, it’s perfect for girls like me who always need something “new”.
I wanted to style this look a bit cute, a bit sassy and a bit fun. The Bandana Skirt is so easy to style, so I played around with a new top and a pair of old faithful heels that have served me well for almost 8 years.
I’m a sucker for monochrome and red.
Red is just MY colour.
Red lipstick, red cars, red fizzy drinks….
I’m crazy for it.
If you read this blog, you will see me in my element in black, white and grey. Throw in a punch of red and you know we are in business. These are my comfort colours so when this dress arrived, it was love at first sight.
I slipped it on, I swirled around the kitchen and Jacob agreed that it was simply meant to be on me.
The dress we are talking about is the Colorado Dress in Red by Hellbunny. It’s red, it’s wild and it’s my new summer favourite. Craig from Ruff n Ready sent me this glorious bandana print dress from his great range of Hellbunny dresses and I was so excited to be able to share it with you all on Closet Confessions.
If you follow my blog, follow me on social media or just stalk me in general (I’m serious, don’t do it. It’s creepy!) you will notice I have lost weight.
It isn’t something I want to brag about and I am certainly not changing the way I write about fashion. You will never log onto Closet Confessions and see me promoting a weight loss drug or some kind of procedure and I don’t plan on spilling my heart out about everything I put into my mouth.
But I will say I have been working hard, eating well and getting active.
Earlier this year the team at TS14+ sent me some active wear and I wanted to road test it. By “roadtest” I mean I wanted to REALLY use it, instead of take it out for a jog and then blog it. Instead, I have been using this set up for over 6 months to ensure I give you the best review I can possibly give!
