This is the story of how Jacob Arnott proposed to me in New York City on Monday 8th July, 2013.
One week before our trip, I had a most vivid dream. I was standing atop the Empire State Building, looking out at the glorious city of New York. The sun had set and the buildings began to light up like shimmering crystals against the dark sky. Beside me, Jacob held my hand as we looked out over the city. His hand trembled as he moved closer to me, and at first I wasn’t sure what was happening. I looked across to peer deeply into his eyes, but instead found nothing. I looked down, to find the man of my dreams on one knee, fingers clutching a ring box, speaking words of the most beautiful and honest that one can imagine. That night I told Jacob about the dream. I told him and laughed a little because “we hadn’t been going out for a year” and it was “crazy”.
Hiring a bike may seem like a simple, easy task. But for me, it was a breakthrough. Sure, I can ride a bike. I can change gears, pump a tire, adjust a helmet strap. But to physically ride a bike up hill, over dirt and for almost three hours was not something I could
